Our first year
STEMania Foundation exists to put hands-on STEM — robotics, software, and science research — into the hands of every child, with a focus on students in under-resourced schools. Fiscal year 2025–2026 was our founding year: we ran our first programs, earned our first national recognition, and completed the legal groundwork to grow.
By the numbers
- 20 students served across our program tracks
- 1 national competition win — 2025 Congressional App Challenge, FL‑17
- 4 competitive STEM tracks stood up and coached by Foundation volunteers
Our programs
- FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) — high-school robotics, grades 7–12.
- FIRST Lego League (FLL) — middle-school robotics, grades 4–8 (new).
- Congressional App Challenge series — students build real software and enter the U.S. Congress's annual competition, grades 9–12.
- STEM Fair series — original science-research projects for county and regional fairs, grades 4–12 (new).
A founding milestone
Our Congressional App Challenge track produced a 2025 district win (Cognitive Care Assistant, FL‑17). The student who won now coaches the next cohort — the first proof of the student-mentors-student pathway the Foundation is built to scale. (Full story on our Impact page.)
How we're funded — and where we're headed
To date, our programs have been sustained by program fees from participating families. Our central goal for the year ahead is to raise our first philanthropic support so we can offer scholarships, equipment, and curriculum to students for whom cost would otherwise be a barrier — so that ability to pay never decides which child gets to build a robot or ship an app.
Governance & status
STEMania Foundation is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 33‑3511828, NTEE B90 — Educational Services), with a determination issued May 2026, effective August 20, 2025. Our fiscal year ends June 30. We are committed to Form 990 transparency as we grow.
